Quantum science: International exchange
Together with a group of physicists, ETH president Lino Guzzella traveled from 20 to 23 November 2016 to Israel, to visit the Quantum Information Science Center of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, near Tel Aviv. The visit was a further step towards strengthening international exchange in the field of quantum science.
ETH apprentices at the Zurich job fair
The Department of Physics of ETH Zurich trains electronics, physics-lab and IT technicians as well as designers and polymechanics. Later on, these often provide important support for basic research or take up positions in industry. At the Zurich job fair (Berufsmesse Zürich), apprentices from the Department of Physics presented their apprenticeship to other youngsters and to parents.

Three ETH Zurich researchers have received ERC Consolidator Grants from the European Research Council (ERC), among them physicist Giacomo Scalari. Their projects will each receive approximately 2 million Swiss francs in funding.
Insights into studying physics
A special-topic event showed first-year students how former physics graduates have mastered this difficult phase and how their studies have continued successfully. The main goal of the event is to maintain and stimulate enthusiasm for studying physics at ETH Zurich.
A visit to the Quantum Device Lab
Institute for Quantum Electronics (IQE)
What sort of options do high-school students have for their future? How does work in basic research look like? What do scientists explore in the Quantum Device Lab at ETH Zurich? Teachers of the canton school Zurich Oberland (KZO) wanted to know.
