The Department of Physics provides basic physics education throughout various departments at ETH Zurich and offers its own students a rich and diverse curriculum.
Physics has been one of the key subjects to study since the foundation of ETH, with a long tradition of covering the most current fields of research with its curriculum. Our students gain a solid foundation in the three-year Bachelor programme; this prepares them for the three-semester Master programme, which brings them into direct contact with research performed at the Department of Physics and includes a six-month master's thesis project in a research group. For many students, a doctoral degree is the natural continuation of their career after their master's degree, where they can combine original research with specialised doctoral courses and teaching activities.
