The AMP has representatives with voting rights in three panels of the departement:

  • the Ausschuss, 
  • the Unterrichtskommission (UK), and the 
  • Departementskonferenz (DK).

The representatives are elected at the General Assembly.

 

UK

The Unterrichtskommission (UK) observes, comments and acts on teaching activities of the D-PHYS and the studies of physics at ETH. This includes the lectures and exercise classes, as well as the AP and VP. The UK gives input to the DK concerning changes in the curriculum of physics. A special joint UK (GemUK) from the departement of D-MATH and D-PHYS meets to discuss affairs in the Bachelor studies, especially the Basisjahr. The UK consists of 3 professors, 3 AMP members and 3 students, giving equal weight to the three groups.

The Departementskonferenz (DK) is the highest organizational unit of the department. All affairs concerning the department of physics go through the DK. This includes administrational affairs as well as teaching activities, planning of scientific routes and the awarding of PhD titles. The scientific staff is represented with 7 persons, other members of the DK include all professors of the department, as well as representatives of the students and administration. Our presence in the DK ensures that the interests of the Mittelbau are sufficiently secured.

 

Ausschuss

The Ausschuss is a small committee that makes the preparations for the affairs in the DK. It is responsible for planning the budget and distribution of financial means. Furthermore it plans the teaching assignments and has an observing role on the delegate.
