A service for apprentices from several companies
From 8 - 18 August 2016 the inter-company course "Measurement technology" took place at the Departement of Physics. 17 physics-lab-technician apprentices from all over German-speaking Switzerland participated. On a visitor day, interested vocational instructors and vocational-school teachers could get an impression of this course.
In the inter-company course "Measurement technology" apprentices to become physics lab technicians learn at the end of their first year of apprenticeship the basics of electronics. During nine days, short theoretical sessions alternate with numerous practical exercises.
The aim of this course is to enable the apprentices to build and measure simple electronic circuits. For the practical exercises, dedicated hardware is available, built with the help of the physics-lab-technician apprentices at ETH.
The content learnt is tested in a partial test at the end of the second year of training. The inter-company courses (überbetriebliche Kurse; üK) increase the quality of the physics-lab-technician training of all companies that offer such vocational training. The Department of Physics is a cantonal centre for inter-company courses offered to physics-lab-technician apprentices. 27 of 33 üK-days are held at the Department of Physics. The next inter-company course "Measurement Methods" will be held for new students from 24 August to 9 September 2016.
