BSc Physics
The Bachelor programme encompasses both the basics of Physics and Mathematics and insight into the practical work in the laboratory.
The Physics Bachelor curriculum is closely linked to that in Mathematics. This pairing is further complemented by Computer Sciences with its separate own curriculum. The close connection between Mathematics and Physics makes it possible for first-year students to switch between them easily. The Bachelor's degree programme at the Department of Physics is taught in German.
In parallel to the lectures in Experimental Physics, students do practical blocks in the Physics Labs 1 + 2 (third and fourth semester) and in the Physics Labs 3 + 4 (fifth and sixth semester).
From the autumn 2021 semester onwards, incoming Bachelor students will be subject to new study regulations. Going forward, students will be able to choose special electives to explore particular areas of physics. Also, to continuously build up competence in computer-based methods, a new lecture on data analysis is introduced in the 1st year, in addition to the existing computer science lecture. The lecture on numerical methods is shifting to the 2nd year of study.
