Honorary doctorate awarded to Evelyn Hu

On this year's ETH Day, Evelyn Hu, Professor of Applied Physics and Electrical Engineering at Harvard University, has been awared a honorary doctorate of ETH Zurich, at the request of the Department of Physics.
Together with guests from research, politics, and industry, ETH Zurich celebrated on 16 November its 164th anniversary with the 2019 ETH Day, its academic holiday. One of the highlights of the ceremony was the presentation of a honorary doctorate to Evelyn Hu, Professor of Applied Physics and Electrical Engineering at Harvard University in Boston, at the request of the Department of Physics. Professor Hu’s technological research has led to a number of scientific breakthroughs in semiconductor quantum structures, photonic crystals and laser structures that shape our daily lives.
On the day before the ceremony, Professor Hu visited the Department and gave both a special talk in the Zurich Physics Colloquium and an overview of her career in science in the NCCR QSIT Women's Lunch Meeting.
