"Science ex machina"
In its June issue, the Horizons magazine of the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) takes a look at the automation of research, and reports on several examples where ETH physicists use Artificial Intelligence.
In his article on external page Augmented Science, Roland Fischer writes about how "artificial intelligence is becoming an ever more natural aspect of the research process". As examples, he reports also on the diverse projects of ETH astropysicists Neven Caplar and Kevin Schawinski, and the work of Giuseppe Carleo on studing quantum systems using neuronal networks.
A external page separate piece, by Christian Weber, is dedicated to Schawinski and his quest "to find out how galaxies with habitable planets have
developed since the Big Bang".
