Additional information
Christoph Grab is an experimental physicist at the Institute for Particle Physics and Astrophysics at ETH Zurich. Born in 1955 in Sarnen (Switzerland), he studied physics at the ETH Zurich and obtained a PhD in experimental physics from the U. of Zurich, working at SIN (Swiss Institute for Nuclear Research).
He has performed research at the Paul Scherrer Institut (PSI), briefly at UC Berkeley (LBNL, USA), for three years as a research associate at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Centre (SLAC, USA), at CERN (Geneva) with a fellowship and as visiting scientist at DESY (Hamburg). In 1990 he joined the group of Prof. R.Eichler at the IPP of ETH. On April 2008, he was awarded the title of a professor of ETH Zurich.
Christoph Grab's primary research interests cover the field of the heavy quarks, in particular the production and decays of charm and beauty, and of searches for rare and forbidden particle decays. Presently, he collaborates in the particle physics experiments CMS at the LHC (CERN) and "Mu3e" at PSI (Villigen). As a member of the Particle Physics Group (PDG), he co-authors the renowned bi-annual reference book "Review of Particle Physics".
He sets a high priority on teaching physics to students and engages in conveying his enthusiasm for experimental physics to high-school pupils and to the public.
