Additional information
Ana Celia Mota was a Senior Researcher at the Laboratory of Solid State Physics and was given the title of Professor. She was Director of the research group devoted to physics at ultra low temperatures.
Ana Celia Mota, a US citizen, was born in Argentina. She studied physics at the Physics Institute Balseiro in Bariloche (Argentina). Immediately after her PhD dissertation in 1967 under Prof. John Wheatley, she spent eight years at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) followed by five years at the University of Cologne (Germany). She startet working at the ETH Zurich in November 1980.
The main topics of her research were on the fields of unconventional superconductivity and mesoscopic effects in normal-superconducting structures. Investigations on these topics are conducted in her laboratory at the ETH to temperatures as low as few millikelvins. The investigations are extended to the microkelvin regime at the Ultra Low Temperature European facility at the University of Bayreuth (Germany) within an EU Program.
