Mentoring for Physics Students
The Department of Physics offers a peer mentoring programme for first-year students.
Students from later semesters and doctoral students may mentor first-year students who have questions about their studies and all aspects of life as a physics student.
The aim of the programme is to make it easier for first-year physics students to start their studies and to network with each other and with more senior students.
A get-to-know-you aperitif at the beginning of the semester allows the first-year students who participate in the programme to meet their mentors. Other events planned during the first semester include a workshop on time management and an information event about physics exams.
Alongside these events, an online platform for mentees and mentors enables them to exchange ideas at any time. Mentees and mentors are encouraged to meet in person at least once a month, e.g. over coffee, but it is up to them to agree on a meeting frequency.

Registration and access to the online communication platform are only possible with a valid ETH email address.
